Facebook. Everywhere.

Just how many people are on Facebook?

Enough so that the Washington Post Company sees the benefit of allowing readers to use their Facebook profile to access the WaPo's exclusive online content.

b-fresh partner Sarah Crawford's fundraising email:
Dear Friend,

On July 11th I will be running to raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH.

Will you sponsor me?

The team I am with, "The Spokeswomen", will participate in the 10k run (me) as well as the 100mile bike ride.

If you can make a donation online, please go to this link and click on my name.

ANY amount you can sponsor me with will help us reach our goal of $500.

This is a fantastic cause!

Thank you very much,

Sarah Crawford

More information on the event:

The 28th Annual Prouty Century Bike Ride & Challenge Walk will be held on July 11, 2009 in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Through the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Prouty, you support Cancer Center researchers and clinicians who are working on innovative ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and hopefully, one day, cure cancer. You also support important patient services that would otherwise not be funded.

All money raised helps to support cancer research and patient services at Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 40 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute for excellence in cancer research, care and community outreach. Research conducted here informs patient treatment around the world.

Thank you for your support!

Political Elections & Google

Thursday, June 11, 2009

The political world is buzzing about what Google did (or what the political world believes Google did) in this week's Democratic Primary in Virginia.

Of course, it could be that Terry McAuliffe and Jim Moran's message just didn't resonate as well with the voters as did the message of Creigh Deeds.

A simple - and plausible - 20th century answer still, even in a 21st century world.

Why The Obama White House New Media Strategists Are So Darn Good

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Because they know how to flood the digital zone to push a message and narrative as well as anyone currently in the game.

Even with their "Brand" 5,000 miles away.

Extremely impressive.

Over It? Only 22% Of Millennials Use Twitter According To New Study

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Interesting:
Millennials -- 18- to-26-year-olds -- don't see value in Twitter, although they spend hours daily texting friends and communicating on social networks in real time, according to a study released Monday from the Participatory Marketing Network (PMN).

The study suggests that only 22% of Millennials use Twitter, the real-time microblogging site that allows posts of up to 140 characters. Of those young people who use Twitter, 85% said they follow friends, 54% follow celebrities, 29% follow family, and 29% follow companies. That's not great news for marketers and companies trying to reach this demographic through the site.

"Twitter has a problem on their hands if they want to become a long-term viable player," says Michael Della Penna, PMN co-founder and executive chairman. "Part of that communication of value must speak to Gen Y and show them the benefit of using Twitter."
