Making Gmail your exclusive webmail provider just got a whole lot easier.

Which is not great news for Microsoft or Yahoo's 2nd rate webmail services. But it's great news for all of us.

Three Things To Always Remember When "Pitching" Bloggers

Monday, May 11, 2009

The Public Relations Society of America is offering a seminar on how to pitch bloggers. The $59 dollar event claims it will explain to participants how to properly "care and feed" bloggers:
Pitching a blogger is like pitching a reporter — a reporter who can and will publicize and criticize and rationalize your every word. So, can you pitch a blogger to cover a story for your company or client? Yes! But do it wrong, and you might just end up like Lois Whitman (we’ll tell you who Lois Whitman is and what she did at the session!).

Dave and Doyle will cover:

- The basics
- What’s the same between pitching reporters and bloggers — and what isn’t
- Examples of a pitches gone wrong
- What to do if you make a mistake
Bloggers are the first stop on today's media conveyor belt, which means that brands, companies and political types have zero choice about whether they can afford to ignore bloggers (they can't).

But that doesn't mean that bloggers and their blog subjects can't usually come to a mutually beneficial relationship. Even if the relationship will always remain "uneasy".

b-fresh has its own three simple rules when it comes to dealing with bloggers (and we won't even charge you the $59 dollars for the advice):

1. Treat bloggers exactly like you would regular press. Bloggers, like regular press, enjoy feeling important. And, like regular press, they like access and exclusive content.

2. Don't lie. Ever.

3. Everything is on the record. Always.
